Waskom’s fifteenth National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, October 1 from 5:30 – 7:00 at Waskom’s Central Fire Station on Highway 80. This is the 35th year that National Night Out has been observed nationwide and is the fifteenth year that the Waskom Police and Fire Departments have hosted Waskom’s annual National Night Out. This community program provides a unique, safety-focused fun evening for the community and Waskom Mayor Jesse Moore will be presenting National Night Out proclamations to the police and fire departments.
So far there have been twenty eight local organizations, businesses, churches and schools which have committed to setting up booths where they will hand out free information and give participants the opportunity to find out more about their programs and services.
Participants so far include the Waskom Boys and Girls Club, the City of Waskom, City Municipal Court, Crossroads Baptist Church Senior Group, Order of Eastern Star, Eastex Telephone Co-op, Ed’s Automotive, Faith Independent Baptist Church, First Assembly of God Church, First Baptist Church, Five Star Buildings, Friends of the Waskom Library, Harrison County Historical Commission, H&R Auto Parts, Hamiter’s Chevron and Burger King, LaTex, Texas Travel Information Center, T. C. Lindsey & Company, United Help of Waskom, Vera Bank, Waskom Chamber of Commerce, Waskom Fire/EMS, Waskom First United Methodist Church, Waskom ISD, Waskom Lions Club, Waskom Police Department, and the Waskom Study Club. Free hot dogs and drinks will be provided by the Waskom Police and Fire Departments.Door prizes donated by individuals, area businesses, and organizations will be given away. Nothing will be sold at this event.
Groups, organizations, churches, or businesses wanting to set up booths at this popular community event are asked to contact the fire department at their non-emergency number at (903) 687-3328, Assistant Chief Jerry Hall at (903) 926-3682.or Marty Vaughan by phone (903 687-3837) or email (email@example.com). Groups must bring their own tables and chairs and have the booths set up no later than 5:00 p.m. the day of the event. Booth setup can begin at 3:00 p.m.and must be removed immediately following conclusion of the activities at 7:00. There will be signs posted in the fire station showing where each booth is to be set up.
Waskom Police Chief Westy Meisenheimer and Fire Chief Murf King thank all of the participating groups and encourage Waskom area citizens to participate in this year’s National Night Out.
