Waskom FUMC Vacation Bible School

The United Methodist Church put together an amazing series of lessons for its unique, “Vacation Bible School,” which started with a “Rolling River Rampage: Experience a ride of a lifetime with God”. Parents stood in line to register their children for this seasonal event, organized by Pastor Sherry Crenshaw, Director Deidra Owens and staff at the United Methodist Church. Big smiles and eyes lit up, as the children walked into the chapel that is dressed as a movie set location and “E” ticket ride.

The chapel was full of children’s laughter, echoes of songs sung and combine that with learning sign language, during choreographed dance led by Teresa Garrett, providing hours of wonderful and entertaining playtime and learning. Parents joined in the dance, singing and signing. Garth Owens was on board for the rolling river rafting theme complete with life jacket and his aide-de-camp, the wonderful Mr. Romper, his pet Otter that delighted children with tidbits of teaching, information and the language of love that knows no borders or shorelines of separation.

Food was plentiful to fuel the energy and excitement for these scheduled days of family and fun for  Vacation Bible School.  Tables were lined up with happy faces, as the kids prepared for this VBS adventure. The children will bring home more than just fun memories of a wonderful time spent at VBS at the United Methodist Church of Waskom, Texas.

Thursday evening will feature “Water Slides” for kids to enjoy on wet and rolling water rides.

Friday evening will conclude the VBS week with a chapel arrival, docking for all those that took this ride of a lifetime with God.

There is still time to sign on for the food, fun and games at FUMC VBS.
