The Waskom community pitched in to rally for another year of gifts and giving in support of the Waskom ISD Education Foundation, that is a 501 c 3 nonprofit tax-exempt, philanthropic organization of citizens that share a vision of enhancing education in the Waskom, Texas school system. WEF Board members are Terry Slone, President, Kathy Baugh, Secretary, Duane Waldrop, Treasurer, Ruth Ann Ainsworth, Member-At-Large, with Deidra Owens, Bo Gillard, Leonard Johnson, Susan Michel, Marty Vaughan, Devonna Warner, Wendell Warner, Lisa Jones, Rae Ann Patty, and WISD Superintendent Jimmy Cox.
The Fall raffle of the 5-Seat Bar Height Table garnered over $700 in ticket sales. The table was constructed and donated by the Waskom FFA, Jack Dillard, Jr. – Sponsor.

Waskom’s dollars and donations for grants and scholarships came from dedicated classroom teachers and community business donations, the Raffle, “Shop Til You Drop Night” and the Belk Charity Day Sale.
A most generous and anonymous donor matched four thousand ($4,000) dollars of business contributions that were received in the calendar year of 2018. WISD teacher’s efforts made another addition to the program by adding an additional six thousand ($6,000.00) dollars.
The Foundation has awarded over seventy thousand ($70,0000) dollars in teacher grants since 2013. The WEF is projecting another award of twenty thousand ($20,000) later this year. In closing the fiscal year of 2018, the Waskom Education Foundation awarded their first graduating senior scholarships with two five hundred ($500) dollar scholarships awarded.
The Waskom Educational Foundation and Board extends its appreciation and thanks to the individuals and businesses for their tax-deductible donations in creating educational, scholastic and financial endeavors, by investing in the future of our student body today for their tomorrow.
