United Help of Waskom Food Pantry Off To A Great Start

The Fall season brought cooler temperatures and fierce rains to United Help Of Waskom’s (UHOW) first day of food distribution.

Not to be delayed or outdone, United Help Of Waskom volunteers cheerfully provided curb side, drive-up service for recipients to receive their food items and stay dry through it all. Recipients received generous helpings of nonperishable food items, bread, desserts and fresh vegetables.

October 9th marked the first monthly distribution for the Ark-La-Tex region, with regular food pantry services provided every second Tuesday of each month. United Help Of Waskom permanent food pantry replaces the First Presbyterian Church mobile pantry that closed earlier this year.  Concurrently, the First United Methodist Church of Waskom continues to provide food boxes for seniors on the first Tuesday of every month.

UHOW President Jimmy Cox, said, “United Help Of Waskom is a community-based effort, we strive to feed the hungry, to provide aid and assistance to the needy in the Waskom, Texas ISD School District.”

The Clothing Ministry will be open on every second Saturday of the month from 10:00 AM to 12 noon.  Clothing for adults and children is available and distribution of items will be provided when checking in.

The next UHOW food box distribution is set for Tuesday, November 13, 2018, between the hours of 3-5 PM.
