The holiday season is here and people are racing to fulfill their Thanksgiving plans with family and friends. Travel is on the itinerary for many, as Thanksgiving is the most commercially-traveled time of the calendar year. Waskom’s own “Operation Help” – part of the United Help of Waskom – took the time to share blessings with those in need.
Peggy Peal started Operation Help in 1983, as an organization dedicated to helping families in need and providing food for individuals and families who need assistance in facing hard economic times.
The organization began without an official name or funds. Today, Operation Help works in tandem with United Help Of Waskom in feeding families in the Waskom school district, averaging from 80 to over 100 families at Thanksgiving and Christmas, in addition to monthly distribution and weekly supplemental food and clothing programs.
