FUMC celebrates Pastor Sherry Crenshaw and her faithful service to the community

The year 2020 ushers in a new decade, closing the 2019 holiday season and bringing changes to the Waskom community. Last Sunday, First United Methodist Church held services with a lunch for the congregation, celebrating the festive season and the conclusion of Pastor Sherry Crenshaw’s tenure at the FUMC in Waskom.

Pastor Sherry is retiring from active ministry, having served as a beloved pastor of her church, a member of the Pastors’ Alliance and a leader of the Waskom community at large.

During the same Sunday service, FUMC honored Linda Garrison for her 20 years of service as President of the United Methodist Women. She stepped down from serving as the organization’s President in 2019. The award was presented by Lay Leader Marty Vaughn and Deidra Owens.

Services will continue at the FUMC, Pastor Sherry’s heart and hand will always be imprinted on the Waskom community and Waskom ISD students. The Waskom Post is honoring Pastor Sherry Crenshaw with a compilation of highlights, memorializing her storied leadership for the FUMC and multiple facets of her involvement and service to the community.
