Christmas Parade Hits the Streets of Waskom

December 1, 2018 began with the historical Hwy 80 being briefly closed down for the Waskom Christmas Parade and Holiday Season Celebrations.

The community and City of Waskom turned out in full force and regalia, with the Waskom High School Marching Band, complete with Santa Claus atop a Waskom Fire Department truck instead of reindeers, throwing candy to kids.

The Elysian Fields Fire Department joined Waskom’s Fire Chief Murf King in showing off their city colors. The Waskom Police Department with Chief Westy Meisenheimer made the event safe and exciting with the presence of the WPD. Joining in was the Harrison County Sheriff Department’s presence was in full force with Deputy Cruz Vences.

The float flotilla had Pastor Doug Lovett’s First Independent Baptist Church, others filled with the Waskom High School Football Team, Waskom High School Cheerleaders, Waskom Belles, Waskom’s 5th & 6th Grade Football player and Cheerleaders, Waskom 4-H Club, Waskom Boys & Girls Club, Spring Market.

Golf carts galore lined the street festivities with Hal Norris of Norris Insurance, H & R Auto Supplies, the Lions Club, Waskom Hardware, classic cars, trucks, tractors and more, by RB Services, Harrison County Truckers, CCMA “Little Cuties,” AB Truck Club, Kenneth King, Terry Richardson, Jimmy Cox with Bill & Holly Ledger with 4 Wheelers and Kaboto Side-by-Side. Not the last or the least, the ever faithful and reliable Horse Riders and the Horse and Buggy favorites. All that walked, rode, drove and performed started the month of December off with a grand celebration in the Birth of Christ in this grand Christmas 2018.
