Saturday, December 8 is the date for the annual Christmas Open House at T. C. Lindsey & Company, the historic old country general store in Jonesville. The open house is scheduled from 11:00 – 2:00, and this is the 171st year that the business has been serving the Ark-La-Tex. The public is invited to join in celebrating Christmas and enjoy the music and refreshments during the open house event.
Santa Claus will arrive around 11:00 and will be in Jonesville for about two hours visiting with boys and girls, moms and dads. Music entertainment will be provided by members of the bluegrass band Shiloh Express.
The Jonesville Country Store has been in continuous operation since 1847 and is a Harrison County Historic site. It was featured in the December 2016 issue of Texas Highways Magazine and was also a segment on the “Texas Bucket List” television program. A number of movies have been filmed at the old store including NBC’s remake of the Long Hot Summer with Don Johnson, Cybill Shepherd, Jason Robards, and Eva Gardner and several Walt Disney movies.
T.C. Lindsey & Company is located at 2293 Farm Road 134 in Jonesville, about 2 miles north of I-20 exit 633 (Caddo Lake Exit) near Waskom.
