Saturday, December 14 is the date for the annual Christmas Open House at T. C. Lindsey & Company General Store, the historic country store in Jonesville. The open house is scheduled from 11:00 – 2:00, and this is the 172nd year that the business has been serving the Ark-La-Tex. The public is invited to join in celebrating Christmas and enjoy the music and refreshments during the open house event.
Santa Claus will arrive around 11:00 and will be in Jonesville until 2:00 visiting with boys and girls, moms and dads. Music entertainment will be provided by members of the bluegrass band Shiloh Express from 11:00 – 12:00 and the Rusk County Dulcimer Players will perform from 1:00 – 2:00.
The Jonesville Country Store has been in continuous operation since 1847 and is a Harrison County Historic site. It was featured in Texas Highways Magazine and was also on the “Texas Bucket List” television program. This year, the Texas Country Reporter visited Jonesville and did a short segment on the family-owned business. A number of movies have also been filmed at the old store including NBC’s remake of the Long Hot Summer with Don Johnson, Cybill Shepherd, Jason Robards, and Eva Gardner and several Walt Disney television movies have used the store as a setting.
