Buddy Killion honored as Waskom’s Citizen of the Year

Every year, the Waskom Study Club chooses a Citizen of the Year – a local citizen, who has made an outstanding contribution to the Waskom community. Persons are nominated by club members and a selection of the annual recipient of the award is made in February or March of each year. Buddy Killion, local pharmacist, is this year’s recipient.

Buddy has operated a pharmacy in Waskom for 40 years. He has provided leadership in a number of local organizations over the years, as well as being active in his church’s ministry. Customer service, community involvement, the desire to contribute towards improving Waskom, and living his Christian values are among the reasons Mr. Killion was selected as the Waskom Study Club’s 2017 “Citizen of the Year.” His honorary plaque was presented on May 10, 2017 at Milano’s Pizza, at the ‘End of the Year’ Study meeting.

The Waskom Study Club was organized in 1936 and meets monthly, except during summer months. The group selects a topic of study for the year, and a member presents a program on that topic at each monthly meeting. Rev. Sherry Crenshaw is the current President of the Waskom Study Club.
